After graduation, Lewis returns to Wichita to find his mother involved in a Ponzi scheme with multiple boyfriends living at their house. She tells Lewis she's starting a storm-chasing business and invites him on a ride. Things resemble the land of Oz more than Wichita in this comic novel.
