Help ReadThis buy books for 4th and 5th grade students in West Harlem for a program called Battle of the Books!
In this program, students engage in trivia style competitions over knowledge of a book list. Battle of the Books builds leadership skills, excitement about reading, and confidence in each student's abilities.
The schools where Battle of the Books works in West Harlem do not have libraries, and the kids really appreciate the access to challenging and intellectually stimulating titles. The program will begin in October 2011 and run until March 2012 with the books you purchase below. Please help!

ReadThis is devoted to promoting access to books and a love of reading wherever needed. The all-volunteer group was launched by a small group of writers and editors in 2008, but now has almost 2,000 members and has inspired the service of over 800 active volunteers. ReadThis has sent many thousands of books to public schools without libraries, troops overseas, hospital pediatric wards, homeless shelters, and so on.
